Professor Bensussen is Producing Director of Emerson Stage and teaches directing. She was awarded an OBIE for Outstanding Direction in 1999. In New York she has worked at Playwrights Horizons, Primary Stages, Manhattan Class Company, Bay Street (Sag Harbor, NY), The Women's Project, the WPA, and the New York Shakespeare Festival (where she was the Artist in Residence), among others. She was twice given Directing Awards by the Princess Grace Foundation, USA, and is a recipient of their Statuette Award. Her edition of the Langston Hughes translation of Garcia Lorca's Blood Wedding is in its fifth printing by Theatre Communications Group.
